The Homefront
During the war, the people that were still at home had important jobs too. People needed to work to make machinery. All of the countries were coming out of a depression caused by World War I. They could not afford to build a lot . They also needed to ration their food and clothing. In the United States, the economy was booming. Everyone had a job as they needed factory workers to produce goods. In the United Kingdom, the labor force went into full stride. The National Health Service was created. The citizens yearned to have a better life after the suffering they endured during the first war. The Soviet Union also had a booming economy. They spent a lot of time building to help support the military. The German's home front was industrial as well. The Nazi party was pushing to get more machinery and more power. Japan was an industrial country, even more so during the war. However, they were not as advanced as the United States or the United Kingdom. Most of their efforts went into the military.
